Regarding the replacement of "Emerald Karatsu" due to generator malfunction of "Ferry Chikushi", extension of "Ferry Kizuna" to Izuhara, and emergency docking on the Karatsu route
August 22, 2025
We would like to express our sincere gratitude for your continued support of our business.
Regarding the above-mentioned matter, a malfunction was discovered in the generator on the Ferry Chikushi today, August 18th, requiring urgent repairs. As a result, the operation and arrival/departure times for each route will be changed as follows.
○ "Emerald Karatsu" to be used as a substitute
As a substitute for the Ferry Chikushi, the "Emerald Karatsu" will operate from Hakata at 12:30 PM (the day before) as per the dock schedule.
In addition, the return trip to Gengen will be changed from 8:50 AM to 8:20 AM as per the dock schedule.
○ Ferry Kizuna Extension to Izuhara
The Emerald Karatsu has a smaller vehicle capacity than the Ferry Chikushi, and there is a risk that some vehicles may not be able to be loaded onto the substitute vessel while it is in operation. Therefore, from August 18th, the Ferry Kizuna will depart Hakata at 8:45 PM, instead of 8:35 PM, via Gonoura, to Izuhara.
In addition, from August 19th, the ferry will return to Izuhara at 4:25 AM, departing Gonoura at 7 AM for Hakata.
○ Emergency docking for the Karatsu route
As the Emerald Karatsu will operate as a substitute vessel for the Hakata route, from August 19th, the Karatsu route will be operated with only the Diamond Iki in emergency docking.
Currently, emergency docking on the Hakata-Iki-Tsushima route and the Intsuji-Karatsu route is scheduled to continue until Monday, August 25th. However, due to on-site inspections, the repair period may be extended. If the docking is extended, we will contact you again.
We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause to our customers who were planning to use these services, and we appreciate your understanding and consideration of the circumstances.
