Regarding fare and fee changes

Dear Customers

Regarding fare and fee revisions

Our company operates five ferries and two jetfoils on the "Hakata-Iki-Tsushima Route," which connects Hakata Port in Fukuoka City on the Kyushu mainland to Izuhara Port in Tsushima City via Gonoura Port and Ashibe Port in Iki City, the "Hakata-Hidakatsu Route," which connects Hakata to Hitakatsu Port in Kamitsushima, and the "Inzuji-Karatsu Route," which connects Karatsu in Saga Prefecture to Inzuji Port in Iki City, fulfilling the role of transporting passengers, vehicles, and cargo that support daily life between northern Kyushu and Iki City and Tsushima City.
We revised our fares in November 2006, and have been working to improve our routes and ensure safe operation by launching new ships, such as the "Emerald Karatsu" on the Inzuji-Karatsu route in 2007, the "Ferry Kizuna" on the Hakata-Iki-Tsushima route in 2012, the "Diamond Iki" on the Inzuji-Karatsu route in 2019, and the "Umiterashi" on the Hakata-Hidakatsu route in 2021.
In addition, as a measure to combat rising crude oil prices, the "Fuel Oil Price Sudden Fluctuation Mitigation Subsidy" has been in place since January 2022 to curb the cost of fuel purchased by our company and the fuel oil price fluctuation adjustment fee, but the subsidy for this project was reviewed in November last year, and fuel costs are expected to increase next year. In addition, passenger traffic was halved in FY2020 from the previous year due to the impact of COVID-19, and recovered to about 80% of pre-COVID-19 levels in FY2023. However, it is expected that transportation demand will be difficult to return to pre-COVID-19 levels due to the declining population and aging population nationwide.
We believe that the current high fuel oil prices, ship repair and maintenance costs, and recent price hikes will not stabilize the shipping business even if we continue to make efforts to reduce expenses, so we have decided to revise fares and charges from April 1, 2025, the first time in 19 years.
The fuel oil price fluctuation adjustment fee that has been in effect since November 1, 2008 will be suspended from the new fares. However, if it becomes necessary in the future due to further increases in fuel oil prices, we would like to set it again.
We sincerely apologize for the inconvenience this may cause our customers, but we will continue to strive to maintain safe and secure operations and further improve our services, so we ask for your understanding and consideration of the situation.
